Smokey had been at the Newington Shelter for 136 day's...

I had no idea I was taking home a pet that day. I was there for moral support for a friend looking to adopt. After reading about Smokey in the lobby, I went back to her cage.  She looked at me and turned away. All the other dogs barked, "pick me!" I signed her out and took her for a walk. She knew all the commands, and she was so happy to be outside! She melted my heart. She now melts all my neighbors hearts too! (We live in a condo complex) She has many doggy friends. Her favorite activity is sunbathing on our deck! She loves learning new tricks and getting chicken treats! She is now 12 with a heart murmor and has no idea she is not a puppy! She is my best friend!
