PETS FOR SENIORS

Pets For Seniors

In an effort to strengthen the bond between seniors and pets, The Purina Pets for Seniors program has partnered with the Connecticut Humane Society to offer adoption assistance by providing a $50 discount toward the adoption of an adult animal (1 year or older).

Qualified adopters aged 60 or older can choose from the wonderful cats and dogs available for adoption in any of our locations.

Studies have shown that pet companionship has numerous physical and psychological benefits for individuals and families who have animals living in their homes.

Pets can help reduce stress and lower blood pressure.

Pets can be an encouragement to get some exercise.

Pets give us a reason to get up in the morning; a sense of purpose...a responsibility to another individual.

Pets offer us non-judgemental, unconditional love.

Pets can be an instant conversation starter.  What better way to invite social interaction than with a cute cat or dog?

Pets have shown to be especially helpful in easing the pain and depression associated with many health problems because of their innate ability to positively affect our outlook on life.

Qualifying seniors will undergo the standard adoption process that is required for all adopters.   Through the Pets For Seniors program, people can meet adult dogs and/or cats depending upon availability of suitable animals.

Pets for Seniors is administrated by the Connecticut Humane Society and is funded, in part, through Purina Pets for Seniors and Nestle Purina PetCare Company.
