Connecticut Humane Society in Newington

Tours

Small groups are invited to schedule visits of their local Connecticut Humane Society branch. Tours include a behind the scenes look at what goes on at the Connecticut Humane Society as well as a discussion on responsible pet selection and care. Groups are able to view both the private and public areas of the building in order to gain a better sense of what is involved in making an animal ready for adoption. Tours are tailored towards the educational level of each group.

To schedule a tour of our facilities please submit a request.

Donation Drives

Donation Drives

The CT Humane Society regularly receives funds and pet supplies from local children and teens who manage donation drives to support our shelter animals. We are grateful for the support and generosity of our community and would definitely appreciate and welcome future service projects. Most commonly, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, schools, religious organizations, and individual families and children manage donation drives in honor of our pets. Please review our wish list for some items that we can always use in our shelters to help our pets feel more comfortable. If you are interested in making an in-kind donation please visit the nearest Connecticut Humane Society shelter to your home any time during our normal business hours.  You may also wish to submit a request for a tour during your visit.

Kids Care

Kids Care

Our Kids Care page was inspired by children and young adults who have asked the question: "How can we help the animals?" The resources on this page are designed to help kids, parents and teachers find fun and fascinating projects that will nurture and support the desire to help pets in need. The humane education materials featured here are also free for download.
