VOLUNTEER PROGRAM OVERVIEW
 |
Volunteers of the Society are used in many different capacities. Some work hands-on with our shelter animals, while others assist our administrative staff "behind the scenes." Many volunteers come weekly to work in the shelter, while others foster pets in their own homes.
|
Our volunteer needs are constantly changing, and positions are filled on an as-needed basis. Candidates must submit a volunteer application for consideration. Selected applicants will be scheduled for an interview to determine eligibility for our volunteer program. Volunteers that are accepted into the program must also sign a liability waiver, attend an orientation and specific training for their volunteer job.
To be considered for a volunteer position, all applicants must:
* Be at least 18 years old
* Have active medical insurance
* Be able to commit to at least six months of volunteer service
* Be able to work independently
* Shelter volunteers must be able to commit to a set weekly schedule for a minimum of 2 hours per week
The Connecticut Humane Society receives a large volume of volunteer applications and is not able to take on every volunteer that applies. Once you apply, please allow up to two weeks for us to review your volunteer application.
