The Connecticut Humane Society occasionally has opportunities available at the pet adoption centers for service groups seeking special projects to benefit the organization. Projects typically consist of landscaping/maintenance work. Groups may also get involved by organizing an independent service project. See below for current group needs.
For safety reasons, working with the animals requires specialized training and is not available for group volunteer initiatives. We have a dedicated team of regular volunteers that work with the pets. Learn about becoming a member of the volunteer team.
CURRENT GROUP VOLUNTEER NEEDS:
Pet Food Collectors:
Volunteers are needed to collect donations of pet food for CHS' pet food pantry. This program benefits members of the community who are struggling to feed their pets. Volunteers may arrange a collection drive at their workplace, school, place of worship, neighborhood, or at a local business. CHS can provide collection bins, signage, and flyers if needed. Download the Pet Food Drive Starter Kit to get started.
Organize a Fundraiser:
Corporate and group volunteers can arrange a third party fundraiser or supply collection to benefit the shelter animals. Visit the Wish List for a complete list of supplies that we currently need. For details on how to organize and conduct a successful fundraising event, visit the third-party fundraising page.
