Volunteer Opportunities, Newington

Read below to learn about current volunteer openings at the Newington Pet Wellness and Adoption Center and the requirements for each position. If you see a position that meets your interests and availability, complete the online volunteer application. Selected applicants will be invited in for an interview.

Note: You must be 18 or older to volunteer. Students under 18 can get involved and earn service credits by completing a service project.

 Biological Risk Management

The Newington adoption center needs volunteers to join the Biological Risk Management (BRM) team. BRM volunteers help control the spread of harmful diseases by working to keep the building clean and disinfected. Duties may include cleaning cat cages or dog kennels, sweeping, washing floors and walls, etc.

Requirements: 18+, have active health insurance, comfortable working around all types of animals, be in good physical condition, able to work independently with limited supervision.

Commitment: 2 hours per week on a set-schedule for at least 6 months

Open Shifts:
Mondays 8:00AM-10:00AM
Thursdays 8:00AM-10:00AM
Fridays 3:30PM-5:30PM
Saturdays 3:30PM-5:30PM
Sundays 3:30PM-5:30PM


  

Laundry Room Assistants 

The Newington adoption center is looking for reliable volunteers to assist in our busy laundry room. Volunteers wash and fold pet bedding and clean and disinfect dishes, toys and other pet items utilizing a commercial dishwasher. Volunteers play a vital role in cutting down on the spread of illness by making sure all items are clean and sanitary.  

Requirements: 18+, have active health insurance, be in  good physical condition.

Commitment: 3 hours per week on a set-schedule for at least 6 months

Open Shifts:
Fridays 2:00-5:00
