Volunteer Opportunities, Waterford

Read below to learn about current volunteer openings at the Waterford Pet Wellness and Adoption Center and the requirements for each position. If you see a position that meets your interests and availability, complete the online volunteer application. Selected applicants will be invited in for an interview.

Note: You must be 18 or older to volunteer. Students under 18 can get involved and earn service credits by completing a service project.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Waterford Adoption Center

Cat Cuddlers

Experienced cat enthusiasts are needed to join the volunteer team at the Waterford adoption center. Volunteers provide socialization and exercise for the cats during their stay. Safety training is provided. 

Requirements: 18+, have active health insurance, comfortable working around all types of cats, be in good physical condition, able to work independently with limited supervision.

Commitment: 2 hours per week on a set-schedule for at least 6 months

Open Shifts:
Mondays 9:30AM-11:30AM, 3:00PM-5:00PM
Tuesdays 9:30AM-11:30AM, 3:00PM-5:00PM
Wednesdays 3:00PM-5:00PM
Thursdays 3:00PM-5:00PM


  

Biological Risk Management

The Waterford adoption center needs volunteers to join the Biological Risk Management (BRM) team. BRM volunteers help control the spread of harmful diseases by working to keep the building clean and disinfected. Duties may include cleaning cat cages or dog kennels, sweeping, washing floors and walls, etc.

Requirements: 18+, have active health insurance, comfortable working around all types of animals, be in good physical condition, able to work independently with limited supervision.

Commitment: 2 hours per week on a set-schedule for at least 6 months

Open Shifts:
Mondays 8:30AM-10:30AM
Tuesdays 8:30AM-10:30AM
Thursdays 8:30AM-10:30AM
Fridays 8:30AM-10:30AM
Sundays 3:00PM-5:00PM


  

Certified Dog Trainers       

Do you have professional dog training experience? The Waterford adoption center needs experienced dog trainers to teach the dogs their basic manners prior to adoption using positive reinforcement methods.

Requirements: 18+, have active health insurance, comfortable working around all types and sizes of dogs, be in good physical condition, able to work independently with limited supervision, professional dog training experience.

Commitment: 2 hours per week on a set-schedule for at least 6 months

Open Shifts:
The schedule for this position is flexible.
