Area shoppers at Big Y World Class Markets supported CHS animals in need in a big way for National Pet Month—to the tune of more than $17,000!
Countless CHS pets will receive the care, medical treatment and loving families they deserve, thanks to the donation. And it was all the result of Big Y’s third annual Pet Month campaign, spearheaded by store employees, the Hometown Foundation, iHeartMedia and River 105.9 radio personality Renee DiNino.
Big Y customers were invited to buy and write their pets’ names on “hang tags” for $1 donations at the Connecticut and Massachusetts stores throughout May, National Pet Month. As you can imagine, store walls were covered with the purchased tags!
Funds raised were split between CHS and three other animal welfare groups. The stores also ran pet food and supply drives during National Pet Month for local shelters.
CHS has previously partnered with the Hometown Foundation and shares close relationships with iHeart Radio and Renee, who is a spokesperson for Big Y. Last year, CHS received food and supply donations from the store for National Pet Month.
